Democracy is Just a Slogan

This movie, purportedly from North Korea, dissects western propaganda with deceptive simplicity. It's actually quite a sophisticated exposé of the fraudulent nature of our two-party electoral one-party candidate selection system.  With often wry, ironic humor - whether inadvertent or not, I can't tell - it reveals the destructively sinister caprice of our Empire, which routinely wages illegal resource wars abroad while creating consumer debt zombies at home.  The second section has a brutally cynical analysis of the role of religion - described as a "cult of death" - which, as an atheist, I found tremendously amusing (except for some very graphic footage of violence and injuries that you'll never, ever see on the tv "news").

Whoever is uploading the segments either isn't finished and has more (the third and last was just posted today) or it was accidentally truncated, so I'll update with newer additions as they appear.  Meanwhile, it's well worth watching these parts that are available.  It's fascinating how they have appropriated the 1% vs. 99% from Occupy (the whole world is watching!).  I can't think of any other recent film that so matches the hidden reality of America today other than, possibly, two fictional  exceptions, The Hunger Games and God Bless America.

If you can't get enough - or can't watch right now - you might want to read an article I found at The Downward Spiral, from the eXileD's first investigation in their new "S.H.A.M.E." series ["Its goal is to expose and shame corrupt media figures, and make life a little harder for those who manipulate the public, degrade our democracy and help perpetuate oligarchy power, making their money by acting as covert propagandists for corporate interests."], called "Malcolm Gladwell Unmasked:  A Look Into the Life and Work of America's Most Successful Propagandist".  It's a revelation.

  1. Lots of food for thought from outside the bubble, but I doubt many will be able to see past the source to examine the truth about PR manipulation.
