LMAO!!! I saw on the globe Gay Texas!!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GODDESS THAT WAS HYSTERICAL!!
A little levity to end a stressful week!
ReplyDeleteI love how the holograms and editing and other tech-y stuff were over-the-top, and yet at the same time, not that far off from today's CNN, Fox, etc. Also, the newscast was 100% focused on the USA (well, what was the USA). A totally believable future!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed - their coverage of global warming is superior to any of the networks.
ReplyDeleteHeads up!
ReplyDeleteStudy Finds Plant Growth Surges as CO2 Levels Rise
http://www.climatecentral.org/news/study-finds-plant-growth-surges-as-co2-levels-rise-16094
I know, I know, here's another version - http://news.mongabay.com/2013/0531-co2-fertilization-effect.html
ReplyDeleteThere are several floating around. As best I can tell, it's based on MODELS not reality. If you want reality, check actual empirical NASA satellite data showing vegetation decline, which I wrote about here: http://witsendnj.blogspot.com/2013/02/now-i-am-azotista.html
Direct link to NASA with graph (of course, they blame it on drought even though it's happening in places that are wetter, not drier, from climate change!)
And as some wag on facebook said, I don't trust models anymore ever since I dated one.
ReplyDeleteYikes! I guess I didn't realize how regularly Central Park trees have been dropping branches on people in the past few years, sometimes causing death and injuries. I used to live on W 86th before moving back to Maine in '07 and would use this entrance to the park almost every day, often with the two young children I nannied for.

Thanks for that link Amanda - yes there are even more than you might suspect because the city pays off victims quietly. There is generally a lot of anger as people blame the parks dept. for not trimming properly - they don't realize how weak the branches are.
ReplyDeleteHey Gail, Very funny - another onion piece with a somewhat simiilar bent: http://www.theonion.com/articles/person-who-will-one-day-become-warlordruler-of-wha,27406/
ReplyDeleteIt was great to meet you at the conference ( Scott & Karen from hopewell).
Ha, sick sick sick!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was great meeting you too, I was just thinking about you cause I got the email lists.
