I have been dismayed by the plight of bees for quite a while, as well as the complicity of the US government which appears to operate under the assumption that Bayer, producer of the insecticides that are likely causing colony collapse disorder, is more important than our food supply...or flowers, for that matter. Now there is a movie about it.

Here is something that might cheer you up a bit: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00hhdrw about a bee colony that grooms off the mite and destroys infected pupae -- and it's genetic, not learned, behaviour. (The last minute or so isn't for the squeamish...)
