This French film from 1996, The Green Beautiful, is a preposterous goof of a vaguely science fiction bent. But if you hang in past the slow beginning, it offers a trenchant critique of social values, some tender observations of human foibles, and some hilariously irreverent comedic moments. Naturally I loved it because earthlings who have been telepathically corrected by the more advanced extra-terrestrials tend to spontaneously hug and kiss trees, among other living things.
You won't find anything like the glamour of Lady Gaga, or any of the explosions or gunfire Hollywood does so well - but it has some inspired acrobatics, a droll sly wit...and psithurism, in Paris.
That was enjoyable Gail, thanks for sharing something I never would have discovered on my own.
