In honor of Valentine's Day (oh, and because there is a mountain of research and tree pictures I have yet to sort through), I'm posting just a few pieces from the art of McDermott & McGough - photos and paintings - ending with a brief documentary about their work. There's lots more, of course, at their website. Somehow they manage to convey much of the conflict that is inherent in living life as a human in any era, I suppose, but especially now. They explore trees and cars, the shallow transience of love and the persistance of dreams and ideas, the lure of our modern time and the impulse to escape it, the romance of decay and decadence. Well, that's what I get out of it anyway - your thoughts welcome!
