Sarah Palin targets Gabrielle Giffords

I used to think Sarah Barracuda was great for laughs.  I hope she and her Tea Party haters and the Koch Brothers - the Tea Party funders - all are put in jail for criminal incitement.  Republicans like Palin and McCain and Boehner are falling all over themselves to denounce the shooter - the one they encouraged!

"For example, we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action," Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC.
"You know, actually as a former Republican, you know, I consider myself someone who is pretty in the middle, I'm a blue dog Democrat, and one that is interested in making sure that our country maintains our prosperity and frankly, our superiority over other countries and that's where we look at these threat, obviously our defense budget, our level of education," she said in an interview with Fox News Channel this week.

Our "superiority' over other countries?  How ironic that Giffords is an adherent, albeit not such an extreme proponent, of the very paradigm that has led to today's violence, and will ultimately, inevitably lead to human extinction.  We are all on this earth together.  We will find a way to cooperate and live sustainably, or we will continue to compete ourselves into catastrophic climate change and resource depletion.

Update:
Desdemona weighs in (go to the website for more):
"Yesterday’s mass political killings are the sad consequence of what is – let’s be clear – neo-fascist propaganda financed by industrialists. As long as we allow sociopathic corporate entities to deliver weapons of psychological warfare, such as FOX News,  into the American mass consciousness, we’ll continue to see appalling political violence.
Is it possible to correct the situation and recover a more civil public discourse? Desdemona suggests that as a start, extra-national actors, such as Rupert Murdoch, should be forced to register as foreign agents."

This has been such a sad day...but I think the tides have turned...
The "Lame stream media" finally got a clue about how dangerous SarahPalin is.
So many people died today collateral damage from her stupid crosshairs map...a congresswoman fighting for her life...
I have felt since the eclipse on the 21st of dec. this "change or die" type energies...
and its hitting us...we can't let it go on, no,no,no!
Sarah Palin and her teabaggin' friends are a danger to all peoples & animals and they must be stopped.
Its time to put our foot down NOW! Have a kick ass take no prisoners attitude!
Gabby almost died and look at all the others out for a nice saturday...going shopping at safeway or listening to Gabby talk...They thought they were safe! We must make sure this never ever happens again. And first get rid of palin. The press has given her a free pass on her hate talk. NO MORE!

  2. Sarah Palin is a canard, a foil. It's the structural defects that have produced, and will produce, the miasma of calamities we have witnessed, and are about to witness, and until we all recognize the true source of this, i.e. the defective structure, then we are complicit in furthering this madness. For example, there can be no Market-Based, Profit-Driven solution to Catastrophic Climate Change emanating from our current structure. It's insanity to think there could be.

Let's face it, these shootings have been occurring quite frequently in recent years, so this one is really no exception....aside from the fact it was a Congress Critter. The shooter was an Afghan War vet....that's the most noteworthy fact in this whole story. War is insane and those who partake it in are mentally compromised by it...some more than others, and this guy obviously was of the latter persuasion.

  3. I hadn't heard the shooter is a war vet - in fact the contrary has been reported, he was rejected by the army...

Be that as it may, many people seem to think this event is so horrific it will put an end to white supremacist hate speech.

I happen to be of the opinion this is just the beginning of chaos - more assassinations, vigilantism, and food riots will ensue.

  5. The right-wingers weren't the only ones with a target on Giffords. Take a gander at this. The whole "targeting" terminology is so indicative of our culture, is it not? We live within a violently competitive system that objectifies everything in its path, including the living, and determines its usefulness in its strategy of transforming magnificent nature into toxic waste.

  6. It will be interesting to see what emerges in the next few days about his connections to the racist American Renaissance movement, and to find out who his accomplice is once he is found...and what links HE has to right-wing extremist groups.

I had the radio set to scan for 3 hours while going to visit middle daughter in Philly today. Two brief mentions, that's it...religion and sports, even NPR was pre-programmed fluff. I even tried AM.
