Sarah Palin's Never-Ending Wild Ride

Apparently Salon has a story claiming that Sarah Palin really is the birth mother of Trig.  It's impossible that this woman gave birth to a 6 lb baby less than two weeks after this video was filmed.  Look at these screen shots!

The Salon writer claims people had already suspected she was pregnant before she announced because her face was swollen.  Preposterous - look at her face in April, a month after she announced!
The story of the wild ride is entertaining but it's more than that:  the lack of critical thinking on the part of the media is indicative of the corruption of the third estate, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporatocracy.  This wouldn't matter except vital information is being withheld from the American people about the existential threats posed to civilization by one, a refusal to prepare for peak oil and two, pollution from dirty energy sources leading to ecosystem collapse (rising levels of CO2 leading to climate change and ocean acidification, plus ozone destroying vegetation), either one of which is sufficient to destroy civilization, let alone both.  Add to that the pillaging by the top one percent which is going to lead to complete social disruption, and we have what I've been calling the Trifucta.

Update:  I was just listening to an interview with doomer Dmitry Orlov and transcribed a bit that seems apropos.  First, I love this quote:

"...humans are panicky animals, they tend to stampede when they're frightened..."

And then, when asked why the media doesn't warn people of financial collapse the way Orlov does on his blog, he replies:

"First of all you would make people unhappy, so unhappy people pan you...you would not be popular and here in this country it's a popularity contest...secondly a lot of people whose vested interests you'd be stepping on would come after you.  So that's just not done.  You have these voices on the fringes, and I consider myself one, saying things that are true, whereas the mainstream for very good reasons, very solid, business-like reasons, are lying and that is what you would expect."

  1. I agree that our media is just about worthless when it comes to informing the populous of what is truly going on in this country. Now if you want to know what the latest star was wearing, who is breaking up with who, and other stupid nonsensical things then the media is all over that.

  2. You don't mean to tell me that Salon - that beacon of clear-headed thinking and liberal truthiness, the home of Glenn Greenwald and other uber-know-it-alls - is part of the corporatocracy? C'mon, those guys would never succomb to the pursuit of profits. Next you'll be telling us that Rupert Murdoch has seen the light and the Wall Street Journal interviewed you for a groundbreaking story on Ozone pollution . . .

  3. Salon sold out ages ago, when Joan Walsh took over. I haven't read it in years. It was co-opted, just like HuffPo has been. Now I read Al Jazeera and various blogs.

Here was my comment at Salon:

People who are bored with Sarah Palin, a notoriously transparent sociopath, can be forgiven for wondering why any interest remains in her faked pregnancy. However if you take even minimal trouble to follow links already posted in comments here to palingates and some of the other blogs, you will quickly ascertain that the lies and discrepancies are so egregious that the question quickly becomes, not DID she fake it, or even WHY - but WHY HASN'T THE PRESS INVESTIGATED?

She has never produced a birth certificate - she can't, because even if she adopted and is listed as the mother, the date will be wrong. In fact she preferred to publicly humiliate her unwed, pregnant teenage daughter rather than squash the rumors with a birth certificate.

She has never pursued any legal remedy against the many bloggers who have openly published accusations that she is lying, because if she went to court the truth would have to come out.

Watch - she won't be making a peep about Prof. Scharlotte's paper, which investigates the deliberate refusal of the press to scrutinize the veracity of a woman who could have been our vice-president.

    (shudder)

One hopes that it is impossible to take Sarah Palin's potential to be elected to national office seriously, but given the decline of the American empire, I would not be sanguine about the impossibility that fascism might arrive, a lipsticked pig, wrapped in a flag and carrying the bible.

  4. Gail, what you should take from this, and everyone should take from this, is that the office of President and Vice-President no longer hold any decision making power. That doesn't mean the office of the executive isn't immensely powerful, it is, but only as a vessel for Plutocratic Interests. The President is just a veneer.

When are people going to wake up and see it for what it is? So long as you react to this deceit you give it sanction and relevance it not only doesn't possess, but also doesn't deserve.

The so-called "Right" is doing the same thing with Obama and the birth certificate. It doesn't matter whether Obama was born in the U.S. or not. He could have been born on Mars.....it would not have changed the course of events.

As I said before, it might as well be an Eggplant or a Phytoplankton as President and Vice-President....the outcome would have been the same.

Nothing is going to change until we all, collectively and in unison, come to that same conclusion. Otherwise, this kind of garbage just has us chasing our tails and wasting our time and effort.

  5. Yes, Morroco Bama - but it's vastly entertaining. In these dark days when I see nothing but misery and terror ahead, I take what humor I can find and enjoy it.

We have the slender comfort of a ring-side seat at the denoument. I will leave you with this article (http://www.skepticalscience.com/Wakening_the_Kraken.html), which ends with imponderably vast understatement:

This extremis we ignore - to our peril... and a link to Tennyson's poem:

Below the thunders of the upper deep,
Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,
    His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep
The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee
About his shadowy sides; above him swell
    Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;
And far away into the sickly light,
From many a wondrous grot and secret cell
    Unnumber'd and enormous polypi
Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.
There hath he lain for ages, and will lie
Battening upon huge sea-worms in his sleep,
    Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;
Then once by man and angels to be seen,
In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.
