Of course, I'm in Scotland, but my cousin, who run a small herd in Illinois, is also planning on grass-feeding his beasts. Says some time back the farmers were taken in by the suggestion to feed excess corn (maize) to the cattle because of the surplus created following the 'feed the world' drive after WWII. Whatever the explanation actually is, I have my doubts that corn is a natural food for cattle; they certainly eat grass in Scotland.
