The entire reason I write all this is so that people will learn.

To answer your commenters question. Um, first of all, it's not always - and unfortunately, seems to be often - that the most desirable species are the strongest at adapting and surviving - think, cockroaches, jellyfish, and weeds.

Aside from that, the more important point is that presuming - which is dubious - ozone tolerant crops can be discovered or even produced through genetic modification - what the hell good is that going to do for forests? For all the wild plants that compose the complexly layered ecosystem?

Anyone who doesn't understand that our entire habitat is completely dependent upon the wild world in which we evolved is either a city slicker with a very dim imagination, or far less educated than a farmer in the third world who never read a single word but understands the fundamental and inextricable and essential relationship we have with the source of our food and oxygen.Gail Zawackihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01800944469843206253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5549306427964459740.post-75434602062124836152012-05-02T21:39:55.810-04:002012-05-02T21:39:55.810-04:00I followed your link at ClimateProgress to the dai...I followed your link at ClimateProgress to the daily Kos and reprinted your article in the local rag. If that's not OK, I'm sorry and won't do it again.
But one of the intelligent commenters asked a question that might take a minute.

"We have to collectively as one family decide to reduce our numbers AND our consumption levels drastically or famine is the obvious result."

Or breed/engineer more ozone-tolerant crops. If the weeds can do it, why not the corn and soybeans?"

http://www.athenstalks.com/pillage-plunder-pollute-llc?#comment470529

cmAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5549306427964459740.post-38758030647266528302012-04-30T22:57:41.584-04:002012-04-30T22:57:41.584-04:00Proud to know you, Gail.Proud to know you, Gail.Mossy & Panoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5549306427964459740.post-25168884459214189322012-04-29T14:21:57.168-04:002012-04-29T14:21:57.168-04:00Oh, this is wonderful to hear.
