And check out SAD, Sudden Aspen Decline, in states like Colorado. Followed your link on Climate Progre...Very spooky! Followed your link on Climate Progress. The west coast has pine bark beatles as you know but I have seen nohing like what you have discribed. One thing that I have noticed is the lake od acorns on oaks.
